February 1 - March 16, 2012
There will be a Gallery Reception on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. in Hovde Lounge. All are welcome.
Russian-born artist Viktor Iudin's formal training in art began in the Children's Art Studio in Penza, Russia. He later earned a teaching degree in drawing and drafting from the Savitsky Art College (also in Penza) and in 1974 he received an advanced degree from the Stroganov College of Art (now the Moscow College of Advanced Industrial Art & Design). Viktor has been in Decorah for over 19 years, and although he now focuses primarily on drawing and painting, he has worked with a variety of art mediums, including reliefs, mosaics and murals (some of them measuring well over 13 feet in length). His subject matter ranges from landscape to portraiture to pure abstraction. Formal portraits are executed from live sittings or photographs, while more informal and spontaneous sketches of local residents are often done on site.
