from the Luther College Fine Arts Collection
Preus Library: Main Floor (and other campus locations)
January 10 - March 18, 2011
As part of Luther College's Sesquicentennial celebration, the college will host a self-guided art tour January 10 - March 18. Luther Sesquicentennial Celebration events, activities and projects are based on the theme "Transformed by the Journey" and the two-dozen portraits on display, selected from among the many in the Fine Arts Collection, feature people who have helped transform the college. Portraits include those of Diderikke Brandt, H. A. Preus, Linka Preus, Karl Jacobsen, Herbjorn Gausta, "Pip" Qualley, Carlo Sperati and Martin Luther. The self-guided art tour begins in Preus Library and travels through several other locations on the Luther campus, including the Center for Faith and Life, Jenson-Noble Music Hall, the Center for the Arts, Main Builiding, and the Koren Building, formerly Koren Library. A brochure identifying all exhibited portraits and their locations can be found in the Preus Library portion of the exhibit. The brochure, designed by Luther senior Amber Hendricks, may be used as a walking-tour guide to the rest of the show.
