Roberta Williams creates contemporary icons, which, however, display an aged quality by resembling centuries-old cracked plasters and canvases. Her most recent work is heavily influenced by her Roman Catholic background as well as by experiences she collected abroad, especially in the Roman Campagna, Italy. The decorative painter received her BA from the University of Iowa and has participated in many workshops worldwide. She also owns and operates The Interior Artist, an Iowa City, Iowa business specializing in faux marble, faux wood grains and trompe l'oeil murals. Williams furthermore has published in newspapers and magazines such as The Cedar Rapid Gazette, The Des Moines Register, Better Homes and Gardens, and Iowa Architect.
“To create pieces, that might give spiritual inspiration to others, is the ultimate purpose of my work.”
