Minnesota artist Joan Bohlig holds a MFA degree from Alfred University, Alfred, New York. She has maintained her own studio/gallery in the Minneapolis area since 1963. In 1974, she began an extensive series of etchings focused on biblical themes. She says, "These etchings are an attempt to make something which might have a positive effect on the lives of those who live with them. This is my nonverbal witness. They also allow owners to make a statement of the importance of God's work in their homes. I like to think they have a life and work of their own as they go forth being honored by carrying God's Word." Joan Bohlig has been featured in nearly 100 one-person exhibitions in the United States and abroad, and her work can be found in collections in over 30 countries. She has also illustrated two books and published a calendar of her etchings.
