by Steve Tatum and Amanda Lehtola
Kristin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery, Center for the Arts
October 24 - December 17, 2002
A two-person collaborative exhibit containing photographs by Steve Tatum and ceramics by Amanda Lehtola. “The collaboration evolved freely, with each of us responding spontaneously to the work of the other. Most of the works were made specifically for this exhibition. I began by photographing some of Amanda's pots in landscape settings so that the images would unite the ceramics on display with the landscape photographs. Amanda responded to the photographs by making a new group of pots that were stylistically consistent with the photographs.” (Tatum) Tatum holds master of arts degrees in both photography and art history, and a master of fine arts degree in printmaking from the University of Iowa. He currently is a staff photographer at the University of Iowa Museum of Art and photography instructor at Coe College (Cedar Rapids, IA). Lehtola holds a bachelor of fine arts in ceramics and a bachelors degree in secondary art education. She currently is a ceramics teacher at Shawnee Heights High School (near Lawrence, KS).
