Student Employment

There are currently three positions open for the Fine Arts Collection, two for Summer 2017, one for Fall 2017. Students interested in the Fall position need to have work study hours available in the second seven weeks of this semester (Spring 2017) to train with the current Student Photographer.

Summer 2017 Student Work/Intern Positions

The Fine Arts Collection is looking for one AAA Student Worker and one general Student Worker for Summer 2017. Below is a list of information regarding the position, including a short job description and hours that need to be available in your schedule.

Job Description:

AAA Student Worker (funding pending):

  • Will work on a special project for the Fine Arts Collection involving turning our paper “condition report forms” into digital records.
  • Will handle other basic curatorial and research requests as needed
  • General research of Collection Objects
  • Assist in other tasks in the Fine Arts Collection database.
  • Spend time checking over current condition reports and updating records as necessary.

*This kind of work is quite common among registration workers in museums, and will be excellent professional development for anyone looking for an object-based career.

Availability:

Must be available to work within the time frame of Mondays and Tuesdays 10am-4pm. Other hours may be able to be arranged.

Job Description:

General FAC Student Worker:

  • Will perform general tasks around the office/in the galleries
  • Research, file, and update information on artwork and entities
  • Transport and deliver artwork to various on-campus locations.
  • Photograph and edit collection pieces
  • Accession/Deaccession works into the collection
  • [*Museum/curating experience preferred, but not required.]

Availability:

Student must be available to work 4 hours a week with work study between the hours of 10am-4pm on Mondays and/or Tuesdays.

Job Description:

Student Photographer Trainee:

  • Works closely with both Galleries and the Fine Arts Collection
  • Assist current Student Photographer in taking images of gallery exhibitions on campus.
  • Edit photos for the FAC and Galleries using Photoshop (*Experience preferred).
  • Learn how to maintain our digital media on social media platforms.
  • [*Basic photography and photo editing experience preferred.]

Availability:

Student must be available late Spring 2017 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays between the hours of 10:00-12:00pm to train with the current Student Photographer. Student must also be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays (hours to be arranged) for a least 4 hours per week in Fall 2017. Student must be granted work-study.
