Summer 2015 Student Work/Intern Positions

The Fine Arts Collection is looking for one Student Worker (AAA - contingent on funding) and one Curatorial Intern for Summer 2015. Below is a list of information regarding the position, including a short job description and hours that need to be available in your schedule.

AAA Student Worker

Job Description —

  • Will work on a special project for the Fine Arts Collection involving turning our paper “condition report forms” into digital records
  • Assist in other tasks to help digitize Collections database
  • Spend time checking over current condition reports and updating records as necessary.
  • Note: this position is conditional on funding. 

*This kind of work is quite common among registration workers in museums, and will be excellent professional development for anyone looking for an object-based career.

Availability —
Must be available to work Mondays and Tuesdays 10am-4pm. Other hours to be arranged.

Curatorial Intern

Job Description —

  • Assist in digitizing Collections database
  • Will handle other basic curatorial and research requests as needed
  • General research of Collection Objects
  • [Museum or Collection Management Experience preferred]

Availability —
Must work at least 72 hours for a 2-credit internship and 144 for a 4-credit internship. Must be available to work Mondays and Tuesdays 10am-4pm. Other hours to be arranged.

Fall 2015 Student Work/Intern Positions

Student Curatorial Worker

Job Description—

  • Works closely with both Galleries and the Fine Arts Collection
  • Assist in accessioning works to the collection
  • Will handle other basic curatorial and research requests as needed
  • General research of Collection Objects
  • Takes on Special Exhibition Projects as needed
  • Note: Museum or Collection Management Experience preferred.

Availability —
Student must be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 8:00am and 5:30pm, and must be able to work at least 4 hours a week.

Student Registrar 

Job Description —

  • Research Collections information and update appropriate files
  • Locate and record missing works in the Collection
  • Update information on artists in Fine Arts Collection databases
  • Maintain Object records
  • Assist in other curatorial and research tasks as needed
  • [Museum or Collection Management Experience preferred]

Availability —
Student must be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 8:00am and 5:30pm, and must be able to work at least 4 hours a week.

*Please note that either of the above positions for fall may be switched from a student work position to an internship (unpaid) if so desired.
