The women's swimming team posted its first dual meet victory of the season this afternoon in Lincoln, Neb. Today was the second dual meet against Nebraska Wesleyan University in as many days. The Norse won today's meet by a final of 130-109.
The Norse posted five first place finishes to secure the victory. Linnea Lee-Brown won the 50 butterfly (27.40) and led a sweep of the first three places in the 100 freestyle (56.90). Greta Brua (1:02.28) and Emma Shumate (1:02.57) finished second and third respectively. Lee-Brown also won the 50 freestyle (25.62).
Elena Dooley also led a Norse sweep of the 100 butterfly (1:11.73), finishing ahead of teammates Shumate (1:14.02) and Jessica Olson (1:14.61). Dooley also finished second in the 50 backstroke (31.04) and the 100 IM (1:09.83).
Lilly Anderson (1:18.74) and Martha Stelter (1:21.39) finished one and two in the 100 breaststroke. Stelter also placed second in the in the 500 freestyle (6:00.85).
Second place finishes were also recorded by Claire Roettger in the 200 freestyle (2:21.71) and Shumate in the 100 backstroke (1:09.28).
The foursome of Shumate, Gabrielle Blair, Dooley and Nelson were the runner-ups in the 200 medley relay (2:05.14). Nelson, Lee-Brown, Stelter and Anderson wrapped up the afternoon with a second place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (4:02.27).
Luther returns to competition on Saturday, Oct. 20 when it will compete at the University of St. Thomas Relays. Start time is slated for 9:30 a.m.
