Luther secured the No. 4 seed for the six-team American Rivers Conference Tournament with a 78-50 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University this afternoon in the Regents Center.
The Norse never trailed in the game and jumped out to a 16-5 advantage after one quarter of play. They held a 34-15 lead at intermission, thanks to a stingy defense, that held the Prairie Wolves to just 15.4% from the field.
It was senior day and Head Coach Amanda Bailey was able to play 16 players. Sarah Holtz and Madison Spence both produced a double-double. Holtz tallied a a game high 19 points and collected 10 rebounds. Spence grabbed a game high 13 rebounds and chipped in 12 points. Maggie Anderson and Coranda Vickerman were next with seven points each, while Laura Hamilton and Anna Edel were both credited with six.
NWU was led by Mikenzie Delgado and Caitlin Navratil who both scored 15 points.
The win gives Luther an A-R-C regular season record of 10-6, 11-12 overall. Nebraska Wesleyan, who will be the No. 6 seed of the tournament, finished the conference schedule with a mark of 7-9, 12-13.
The first round of the A-R-C Tournament will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Luther will host the No. 5 seed Coe College at 7:00 p.m.
