Thirty-two teams played in the two-day Midwest Region Classic, held at Eagle Ridge Resort, Galena, Ill., Sept. 14-15. The tournament was played on the Eagle Ridge North Course.
Carthage College won the team title shooting rounds of 300 both days for a total of 600. UW-Superior and Wheaton College (IL) were both nine strokes back at 609. Edgewood College completed the top four carding a 615. Luther finished in a two-way tie for 10th place with Wisconsin Lutheran at 635.
Individually, the Norse were led by Ben Phipps who finished in a four-way tie for 18th from the field of 176 golfers. Phipps shot rounds of 76-78-154.
Joe Fewer and Ben Meyer finished in a nine-way tie for 44th, both shooting a two-day total of 159. JP Knutson finished tied for 82nd at 164 and Spencer Horst was tied for 91st at 165.
Next weekend, Luther will play in the three-day Twin Cities Classic hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College. The tournament will be played on three different golf courses. Day one will be played at Elk River Golf Club, Elk River, Minn. The second day will be played at Links at Northfork, Ramsey, Minn., followed by the final 18 holes at the Edina Country Club, Edina, Minn.
