As Paideia strives to teach works from various traditions and disciplines, this workshop is a gathering of faculty to read texts that have potential to be assigned in the first-year common course. In advance of the workshop, faculty will confer with the Paideia Director to select two of the titles on the reading list. After reading the works they have selected, 2-person teams will prepare a summary of the text, an analysis of each text's relation to enduring questions, and an evaluation of the suitability of the text for first-year students. These materials will be shared with the other participants when the entire group meets to discuss the books and responses.
Participants will receive a $100 stipend for participation in this two-day workshop.
Meets both June 26 and June 27.
This workshop has been a lot of fun in past summers.
All are welcome to join in.
