Luther is off to its best start since 2014 after defeating Gustavus Adolphus College 3-0 tonight under the lights. The Norse are now 4-0, while Gustavus suffered its first loss of the season and is now 2-1.
Luther did all of its damage in the first 15 minutes of play. Tristan Davenport scored what proved to be the game winner at 8:33, with a header into the right corner, assisted by Brunno Colon (2). Davenport's goal was his third of the season and is now tied with Ben Keller for the team lead in this category.
Aidan O'Driscoll scored his first goal of the season at 9:30, a shot from near midfield that found the upper right hand corner of the net. Five minutes later Andrew Avram also scored his first goal of the season at 14:11. Rafael Broseghini (3) assisted on both goals and now leads the team in this category.
Goalkeepers Carson Davenport and Lincoln Saxton split time in front of the nets. Davenport played the first half and Saxton the second. Neither needed to make a save the entire evening. The defensive line held the Gusties to just five shots.
Luther returns to action this Sunday, Sept. 9 when it will host Carroll University. Start time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
