Luther and UW-La Crosse have been racing against each other in a dual meet format all but three years since 1955. In 1957 and 1977 this meet did not take place and in 1988 Augustana-Rock Island joined the party for one year, for the lone triangular in the 62-year history of this get together.
Today was the 62nd year for this meet, but today's race was the 63rd in the series, because in 1955 these two teams competed against each other twice. La Crosse leads the series 39-20. There have been three ties (1956, 1968 and 2014).
The Eagles had runners cross the finish line in five of the top-six places from the field of 41 runners and defeated the Norse 42-17. Brandon Puser won the individual title clocked at 16:45.1 on the 5K course.
Luther's top five and where they placed included junior Colin Weber (4th - 16:57), junior Nick Shaleen (8th - 17:07), sophomore David Will (9th - 17:09), senior Kyle Gilberg (10th - 17:11), and junior Andrew Millán (11th - 17:12).
