IIAC Outdoor Championships - Recap

Recap Day One: Luther athletes recorded four all-conference performances (top-three finish) during today's first full schedule of events.

Sarah Holtz was crowned the Iowa Conference champion in the high jump. Holtz cleared the bar with a mark of 5-3 1/4. She is the first Norse athlete to be crowned a conference champion in this event since Amie Siebenaler in 1999.

The 4 x 800 relay of Shannon Baker, Kaia Bierman, McKenzie Carney and Amelia Hornseth placed second with a time of 9:20.43. This time ranks sixth on Luther's all-time list. 

Marta Springer placed second in the Heptathlon. Springer posted a total of 4075. Mary Gray of Central won the title with a point total of 4160.

Hannah Wright became a three-time all-conference performer in the 10,000 meters. Wright placed third this afternoon with a time 38:36.12. She also earned all-conference honors in this event in 2015 and 2017 placing third both years. 

Day Two Recap: Luther finished the 2018 Iowa Conference Outdoor Championships in sixth place finishing with 75 points.

Marta Springer earned all-conference honors (top-3 finish) placing second in the javelin (121-6) this afternoon. Also earning points in this event was Sarah Holtz (5th - 119-3) and Jessica Junker (7th - 113-10).

Kaia Bierman (4th - 4:47.97), McKenzie Carney (5th - 4:47.97) and Amelia Hornseth (8th - 4:56.05) all posted team points in the 1500 meters.

Carney (6th - 17:59.83) and Anna Ryden (7th - 18:04.41) posted points in the 5,000.

Morgan Sammons placed seventh in both the 100 meter hurdles (16.03) and 400 meter hurdles (1:06.818).

The 4 x 400 relay of Shannon Baker, Bierman, Sammons and Springer placed sixth (4:04.05).
