Luther scored its third highest point total of the season and also broke the single season school record for three-point field goals, as the Norse defeated Coe College 90-70 this afternoon in Eby Fieldhouse.
Luther blistered the nets shooting 54 percent, that included a 48 percent effort from three-point land. Luther's 13 treys this afternoon brings its season's total to 159, with eight games remaining on the regular season schedule. The old mark was 152 set during the 2000-01 campaign.
John Androus led the Norse with a double-double. Androus, who scored his 1,000th career point this afternoon, produced 16 points and collected 13 rebounds. Nathan Meyer (15), Brian Nnaoji (12) and Jake Martin (11) completed the list of double digits scorers.
Coe was led by the trio of Andrew Wirth (20), Max Schmarzo (14) and JT Vonderhaar (12). The Kohawks worked hard for their points this afternoon as the Norse defense held them to 43 percent. Luther also won the battle of the boards 35-25.
The win was the second in a row for the Norse as they improved to 2-4 in the Iowa Conference, 10-7 overall. Coe fell to 1-5 in league play, 9-8 overall.
Luther returns home on Wednesday, Jan. 29 and hosts Buena Vista University (4-2, 9-8) at 8:00 p.m. in the Regents Center.
