Luther and Loras split the four-game series after the Norse swept the Duhawks this afternoon.
In game one, the Norse never trailed taking a 1-0 lead after two and adding three more in the bottom of the fifth, en route to the 4-1 victory. Alex Byom (6-0) went the distance on the mound, allowing one run on four hits.
Eric Pittman tallied two of Luther's five hits and drove in a run in the fifth with a triple to right field. Andy Briggs and David Lowe also drove in a run.
Zach Hendrikson, who was 2-for-4, drove in the game winner with a double for his third RBI of the game. Hendrikson drove in Briggs, who one batter earlier, drove in Austen Graham and Aldon Severson with a single to tie the game at 5-5.
Matt McKinney (2-3) picked up the win in relief. McKinney allowed one run on three hits in 5 2/3 innings.
The two wins gives Luther a league record of 9-13, 13-17 overall. Loras fell to 9-11 in the IIAC, 16-15 overall.
The Norse will return to action on Tuesday, April 20 when they will host league leading Wartburg College. This double header will begin at 1:00 p.m.
