Luther posted its fourth win in a row this evening defeating Coe College by a score of 5-0. The shut out was the second in a row for the Norse, who moved into the top-10 at No. 10 of the North Region this week.
Following a Coe own goal at 37:58, Nigel Nielsen scored his first collegiate goal assisted by Ryan Medina (1) at 42:04. Medina (2) extended the Norse lead with a at 56:42 assisted by Jon Gednalske (3). Seconds later, Brock Arend (5) found the back of the Kohawk net assisted by Medina who completed the match with a total of four points. Nathaniel Maynard (2) completed the scoring at 84:45 unassisted.
For the second straight match, the Norse defense did not allow a shot on goal. Tommy Breen got the start in front of the nets and split time with Peter Wright and Blaise Schaeffer.
The win gives Luther an Iowa Conference record of 2-0, 8-3-0 overall. Coe fell to 0-2 in league play, 4-5-1 overall.
The Norse will return to action Saturday night, Oct. 5 when they will host University of Dubuque for Homecoming. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
