Playing without the services of Nellie Nelson who injured her knee Thursday night at Loras, Luther battled No. 8 Simpson College, but were defeated by a score of 85-76.
Logan Hjerleid, Meagan Koepnick and Taylor Johnson led the Norse attack. Hjerleid scored a career high 19 points connecting on seven of nine attempts. Koepnick, who was 4-for-7 from behind the three-point line, matched her career high with 18. Johnson tallied 12 and also led the team with five assists. Carrie Kilen and Tayler Jenks both chipped in seven and Kilen led all rebounders with a career high 10.
Kate Nielsen led the Storm with a game high 29. Nicole Crisp and Brooke Panzer also reached double digits with 14 apiece.
The loss drops Luther's Iowa Conference record to 4-6, 12-9 overall. Simpson remains unbeaten in the league play and is 10-0, 20-1.
Luther will host Central College Wednesday, Feb. 6. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
