A 21-point second half by Coe College proved to be the difference this afternoon as the Kohawks defeated the Norse 35-14 in the final home game of the year.

With the game tied 14-14 at halftime, Coe scored the first two times they had the football in the third quarter and Luther was never able to recover. The Kohawks added a touchdown late in the fourth quarter (4:04) after Luther failed to convert on a fourth and nine situation on its own four-yard line.

Josh Vos gave Luther an early 7-0 lead thanks to an 81-yard touchdown run on Luther's second play from scrimmage. Vos ended the afternoon with a game high 128 yards and two touchdowns. He also scored on a five-yard plunge with 3:30 left in the first frame.

The Norse spent the majority of the game with back-up quarterback Damon Stroup calling plays, who replaced JJ Sirios who was injured during Luther's first series. Stroup rushed for 77 yards on 18 carries.

Coe quarterback Josh Rekers threw for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Rekers was 21-of-30 and connected with 11 different receivers. The leading rusher for the Kohawks was Sam Lahr who finished the afternoon with 70 yards and one score.

Defensively for the Norse, Aric Elton, Darren Hill and Matt Larson were all credited with double-digit tackle totals. Elton led the team with 15, while Hill and Larson were credited with 11 and 10 respectively.

Box Score

The loss was the fourth in a row for the Norse who are now 4-4 overall, 1-4 in the Iowa Conference. Coe improved to 3-2 in league play, 4-4 overall.

Next week, Luther travels to Loras College and the Rock Bowl. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
