Luther kicked off the Iowa Conference schedule with a 2-1 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University here in the valley.
Ellie Schmid gave the Norse an early 1-0 lead, finding the back of the Prairie Wolves net with her fourth goal of the year at 23:51. MeKenzie Lundquist scored what proved to be the game winner at 57:01 assisted by Maggie Anderson (2).
NWU made things a bit interesting scoring at 59:28. Natalie Graves scored her third goal of the year assisted by Kaitlyn Sullivan.
Both teams were credited with 10 shots and Luther had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 4-4. Nebraska Wesleyan fell to 2-5-1.
Next on the schedule, Luther hosts UW-Whitewater for a non-conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 5:00 p.m.
