Luther faced the University of Chicago in today's second game played at Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa. The Maroons ended the Norse regular season schedule, posting a 10-0 victory in seven innings. Chicago scored seven runs in the first and three in the fifth.
Maroons pitcher, Brenton Villasenor tossed a four-hit shutout, his first of the year and improved to 4-3 on the mound.
Trent Athmann was 2-for-2 and both Mitch Bruggers and Tommy Gleason had a hit.
Tyler Boesel (5-3) got the start and went a 1/3 of an inning. Boesel. allowed seven runs on four hits and walked one. Four of the runs were unearned.
Luther completes its regular season with an overall record of 24-14. The University of Chicago is now 23-10.
Luther has made the six-team Iowa Conference Tournament that will be played at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, May 10-12. The seeding for the tournament will be complete following today's results in the Iowa Conference.
