Luther claimed four of five titles at the 2017 Iowa Conference Individual Tournament hosted by Simpson College. The two-day tournament was played at Prairie Ridge Sports Complex, Ankeny, Iowa.
In Flight A doubles, it was an all Luther final. Brian Murman and Cole Schneider defeated teammates Anders Jensen and Nate Parsons 9-8 (9-7) to claim the championship. Murman and Schneider were the No. 3 seed of the 12-team bracket, while Jensen and Parsons were seeded No. 1. Jensen and Parsons advanced to the finals after defeating teammates Grant Morton and Ryan Ortega 8-2 in the semifinals. Murman and Schneider defeated Jake Kudrick and Nathan Greiner of Coe 8-5 in the other semifinal.
In Flight A singles, Parsons was defeated by Kudrick of Coe 6-1, 2-6, (11-9) in the championship match. Parsons was the No. 4 seed and Kudrick was seeded No. 2. Parsons advanced to the title match knocking off No. 1 seed Evgeny Pakhomenko of Coe 3-6, 6-1, (10-8).
Jensen also advanced to the semifinal round but was upended by Kudrick in straight sets 6-4, 7-5.
In Flight B doubles, Sakchham Karki and Brook Norwood claimed the championship with an 8-5 victory over Will Rizer and Aaron Weil of Coe. Sakchham and Norwood were seeded No. 6 and Rizer and Weil were seeded No. 4.
Karki also claimed the individual title of Flight B singles. Karki defeated his doubles partner Norwood in straight sets 6-3, 7-5.
Kaelan Wilson was crowned the champion of Flight C singles. Wilson posted a 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 victory over Kris Weeden of Central in the title match. Nathan Abbott advanced to the semifinal round but was defeated by Weeden 6-4, 6-0.
