For the second time in as many days the Norse inside duo of Nellie Nelson and Taylor Johnson both recorded a double-double, leading the Norse to a 66-54 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University this afternoon at the UW-La Crosse Holiday Classic.
Luther, holding a 16-point lead midway through the second half, saw its advantage dwindle to six (53-47) following a 10-0 run by Nebraska Wesleyan. The Norse responded with a 13-5 run of its own down the stretch to secure the victory.
Nelson tied her career high with 17 points and collected a career high 15 rebounds. Johnson was credited with 13 points and 10 boards. Meagan Koepnick also tallied double digits with 11 points.
Defensively, the Norse held the Prairie Wolves to 26.6 percent shooting and dominated the boards 51-38.
The victory gives Luther an overall record of 4-1. Nebraska Wesleyan fell to 1-4.
Luther will begin its home schedule on Thursday, Nov. 29, when it will host North Central (IL) at 7:00 p.m. This game will be video streamed.
