Luther hosted the 27th annual Luther Alumni Meet this afternoon. The Norse won the team title with 143 points and were followed by the Luther Alumni with 83 and St. Mary's University (MN) with 67.
Tricia Serres headlined today's action setting a school, meet and forum record in the 1,000 meter run. Serres posted a time of 2:53.32, breaking the old mark of 3:00.43 set by Dani Meirick in 2010.
Luther almuni member and current assistant coach Emma Spoon, posted two individual first place finishes. Spoon won the mile (5:20.88) and the 3,000 (10:52.67). Addy Rickels also won two events, finishing ahead of the field in the high jump (5-1 3/4) and the long jump (15-6).
Individual first place finishes posted by the Norse included Marea Holkesvik in the 400 (1:01.90), Kaia Monson in the 55 hurdles (9.50), Devon Hovey in the 2,000 steeplechase (8:04.33), and Elise Heiser in the triple jump (32-3 1/2). Anna Lampe, Leah Broderick, Anna Burke and Molly Wettach won the 4 x 200 (1:55.68), while the foursome of Holkesvik, Jesse Robinson, Breanne Pierce and Randi-Kate Canoy won the 4 x 400 (4:34.52).
One week from today Luther will travel to Carleton College for the Meet of Hearts Invitational. Start time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
