Luther placed third at the Iowa Conference Championships hosted by Central College. The Norse tallied 59 points, finishing behind Wartburg with 30 and Loras with 43.
Tricia Serres won the individual championship and was named the league's MVP. She covered the 6K course in 21:29.3, finishing well ahead of runner-up Haddie Vawter of Wartburg who crossed the finish line at 22:31.8.
Serres is the ninth Luther runner to win the IIAC women’s individual title, joining Linda Swenson (1982-84-85), Martha Lindberg (1983), Rochelle Swiggum (1986), Laura Libbey (1987), Turena Johnson (1995-96), Johanna Olson (1999-2000-01), Janet Dobyns (2006-07) and Emma Spoon (2010-11) to give the Norse a total of 16 individual titles.
Jayne Cole also earned all-conference honors by finishing in the top-15 from the field of 120 runners. Cole placed seventh with a time of 23:18.4. This is the second time Cole has earned all-conference honors.
Completing Luther's top seven was Nicole Powers (16th - 24:10.7), Mallory Carr (17th - 24:11.0), Sophie Ristau (18th - 24:15.0), Brenna Gibbons (19th - 24:16.0) and Lauren Mordini (21st - 24:18.7).
The next varsity race will be the NCAA III Central Regional that will be hosted by St. Olaf College Nov. 16. Race time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
Prior to the Central Regional, Luther will host the JV Cup next Friday, Nov. 8 at 4:15 p.m.
