No team scores were kept today at the Don Parker Open hosted by UW-Eau Claire. Connor Murphy (125) and Kyle Clough (133) both placed third and Zyrik Rincon (125) placed fifth.
Murphy improved to 22-11 after posting a record of 2-1 today. Murphy advanced to the semifinals with a 9-7 decision over Cole Kubesh of Concordia-Moorhead. He was defeated by Zach Hasselberger of UW-Whitewater 7-5, before securing the third place finish with a 6-4 win over Jake Nohre of Concordia-Moorhead.
Clough tallied two falls and won by medical forfeit in the third place match. Clough began the day with a fall (4:16) over Luke Wallace of St. Olaf. He followed that match with a fall (5:25) over Trenton McManus of Minnesota State-Mankato. He was knocked out of the championship bracket in the semifinals by eventual champion Paul Konrath, unattached from University of Wisconsin, by tech fall (22-7).
Rincon tallied two major decisions. After falling 8-2 in the quarterfinals, he defeated Matthew Petersen of Minnesota State-Mankato 13-2. He then defeated Ryan Smales of Nebraska Wesleyan University 15-7 in the fifth place match.
Luther will wrap up the Iowa Conference schedule at Buena Vista University on Friday, Feb. 9. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
