Luther's two-game win streak came to an end this afternoon in the Regents Center as Loras College posted a 71-63 victory. In a game that had nine ties and 13 lead changes, second chance points proved to the be the difference in the game. The Duhawks won this statistic 14-3.
Luther struggled from behind the arch shooting just 20 percent (5-25) and finished 41 percent from the field (24-59). The Duhawks shot 52 percent (24-46) and were 4-of-12 from behind the arch. The Duhawks also dominated the glass, out rebounding the Norse 40-22.
Luther was led by Claire Marburger who tallied a game high 17 points. Laura Hamilton was next with 14 and Sarah Holtz added 12 off the bench.
Loras was led by the efforts of Marissa Schroeder who recorded a double-double. Schroeder collected 10 rebounds and was credited with 13 points. Hanna Stokes also chipped in 13, while Miranda Chapman and Addie Oberman were credited with 11 and 10 respectively.
The loss drops Luther's Iowa Conference record to 6-3, 12-8 overall. Loras improved to 4-5 in the IIAC, 12-6 overall.
Luther returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 24 when it will host Nebraska Wesleyan University at 6:00 p.m.
