Luther won its conference opener over Central tonight in the Regents Center by a final of 66-48. Luther held a 34-26 advantage at halftime and outscored Central 32-22 in the second stanza. The Norse defense held the Dutch to 22.1 percent from the field. The Dutch were 15-of-68 that included a 5-of-28 effort from behind the three-point line. Luther also scored 23 points off of turnovers to Central's four.
Four Norse tallied double digits led by Claire Marburger with 19. Katie Waller was credited with 14, while Sarah Holtz and Madison Spence chipped in 11 and 10 respectively. Waller posted a double-double matching her career high for rebounds with 10. Laura Hamilton led the team in this category with a career high 11.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 3-4, while Central fell to 2-3.
Luther continues Iowa Conference play this Saturday, Dec. 2 when it will travel to Loras College. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
