Luther outscored Simpson 45-25 in the second half en route to a 62-56 come-from-behind victory in Indianola. The Norse, who trailed the Storm 31-17 at halftime, put together a 17-3 run to start the second frame, that leveled the score (34-34) with 11 minutes left. After falling behind by four (40-36) at the seven minute mark, Luther exploded for its second impressive run of the half (17-5) and held a (53-45) advantage, its largest lead of the game with a little over two minutes remaining.
Jake Martin led the Norse offensive charge scoring a game high 14 points. Christian Wright and Bradley Wilkins both produced 10. Wilkins was a key factor for the Norse bench that outscored the Storm bench 20-10.
Simpson had three players tally double digits. Charles Swain led the team with 12, while Austin Turner and Sam Amsbaugh both chipped in 10.
The win was the first for the Norse in Iowa Conference action and it also snapped a seven game losing streak. Luther will enter Saturday's home game against Loras College (2-3, 7-9) with a record of 1-4 in the IIAC, 5-11 overall. Saturday's game will be video streamed starting at 4:00 p.m.
