Luther lost a hard fought 68-65 decision to University of Dubuque here in the Regents Center.
The Norse led 28-24 at halftime, but were outscored by the Spartans 35-21 during the first 15 minutes of the second frame and trailed 59-49. The Norse tied the game 61-61 with 1:38 remaining thanks to a 12-2 run of their own, but were never able to retake the lead. A mid-court shot at the buzzer by Cale Austin to send the game in to overtime glanced off the front of the rim.
The trio of Aaron Huber, Nathan Meyer and Christian Wright led the Norse attack. Huber tied his career high with 18 points. Wright also produced a career high with 12 and Meyer tallied 15. Jake Martin led the team in rebounding collecting 10.
Dubuque was led by Anre Norris who poured in a game high 31 points. Norris was 10-of-18 from the field and 10-of-11 from the charity stripe. Gage Heffernan and Lucas Ware completed the list of double digit scorers for the Spartans with 14 and 11 respectively.
The loss drops Luther's Iowa Conference record to 0-3, 4-10 overall. Dubuque improved to 2-1 in league play, 12-2 overall.
Luther returns to action on Saturday when it will host Coe College (2-1, 8-6). Tip-off will take place at 4:00 p.m.
