Luther placed second at the Macalester College Roger Ahlmand Invitational this afternoon. The Norse posted a point total of 496.5 and finished behind team champions St. Thomas with 581.5.
Individually, Jackie Hughes, Sam Kraft, Pilar Dritz and Clare Slagel posted first place finishes. Hughes won the 400 IM (4:49.53), Kraft won the 200 freestyle (2:03.10), Dritz won the 200 IM (2:17.53) and Slagel won the 100 backstroke (59.08). Hughes also placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:36.82), while Dritz did the same in the 400 IM (4:52.58).
Lexi Scharmer posted three top-three finishes. Scharmer was second in the 100 butterfly (1:01.40) and third in both the 200 butterfly (2:22.02) and 200 IM (2:21.94). Elizabeth Reed also posted a top-three finish touching wall third in the 1,000 freestyle (11:29.76).
Luther's three relay teams all placed second. The 200 medley relay of Slagel, Katie Storey, Scharmer and Emily Anderson started things off clocked at (1:52.59). Leah Barkema, Dritz, Kraft and Margaret Yapp posted a time of (1:44.70) in the 200 freestyle relay. Slagel, Barkema, Kraft and Laura Boran wrapped up the days events with a time of (3:48.22) in the 400 freestyle relay.
Luther will return to dual meet action on Saturday, Nov. 22 when it will host UW-La Crosse at 1:00 p.m. This meet will be video streamed.
