Luther rolled to a 6-2 victory over UW-Stevens Point this afternoon. The win over the Pointers was the first for the Norse in 12 tries. Stevens Point enter today's match with a series lead of 10-0-1 that began Oct. 12, 1990. The Norse (4-0) are also off to their best start since the 2002 campaign when that team reached 6-0 before dropping its first match of the season.
Luther dominated this contest out shooting UWSP 19-8 and placing 11 shots on goal. The Norse also had a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
Ellie Bunz and Melisse Chasse both scored twice, while Erika Balk and Lydia Eager also found the back of the net. Chasse, Bunz (2), Elly Arend and Lauren Hughes were all credited with assists.
The Norse return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 10, when they will host St. Mary's University (MN) at 7:00 p.m.
