No. 9 Luther kicked-off its 2018 campaign with a 5-3 victory this afternoon in the Rochester Dome, Rochester, Minn. The Norse scored three in the first and one run in both the second and fourth frames en route to the victory.
Annie See led the offensive attack driving all three runs in the bottom of the first. See ripped a two-out double that drove in All-American Anna Strien, All-American Ashley Burrows and Blake Banowetz. See ended the game going 2-for-3 with 3 RBI.
Burrows (3-for-4), Strien (2-for-4) and Bailey Victoria (2-for-4) produced seven of Luther's 11 hits in the top-three slots of the batting order. Strien and Victoria both drove in a run.
All-American Samantha Bratland went the distance in the circle. Bratland allowed three runs on five hits, walked four and struck out 10 in her season debut.
The Norse will wrap up their opening day against Carroll University later tonight.
