The University of Northwestern (MN) snapped Luther's five-game win streak posting a 72-69 overtime victory in the Ericksen Center. In a game that saw 13 ties and 14 lead changes, the Eagles outscored the Norse 9-6 in the extra five minutes of action to secure the win.
The difference in the game was four more three-point buckets by the Eagles, who were 9-of-34 from behind the arch. Both teams made a total of 27 field goals and Luther had a one-point advantage at the charity stripe.
Four Norse tallied double digits led by Tayler Jenks and Taylor Johnson who both scored 12 points. Nellie Nelson and Logan Hjerleid both chipped in 10.
The Eagles were led by Jessica Fife who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 20 rebounds.
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 7-2. Northwestern improved to 6-3.
The Norse will return to action on Monday, Dec. 30 when they will travel to UW-River Falls for a 7:00 p.m. game.
