Luther capped off its week defeating Loras College 72-64 here in the Regents Center. The Norse never trailed in the game and held a 34-17 advantage at halftime and increased their lead by 20 early in the second frame.
Jake Martin posted a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds both game highs. Martin was 6-of-11 from the field that included a 4-for-6 effort from behind the three-point line. Ten of his total rebounds came on the defensive end. Martin also led the team with three assists.
Nathan Meyer produced his second best outing of the season with 19, while Aaron Huber chipped in 10. Huber was 7-of-11 from the charity stripe, while Meyer was 6-of-12 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free throw line.
As a team, Luther connected on 74 percent (20-27) of its free throws and shot 40 percent from behind the arch (10-25).
Bobby Harmening and Nathaniel Smith led the Duhawks with 15 points each.
Following tonight's action both teams are now 2-4 in league play. Luther improved to 6-11 overall, while Loras fell to 7-10.
Up next for the Norse is a road trip to Buena Vista University on Wednesday, Jan. 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
