The Luther College Concert Band will present its fall concert at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5th, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther campus.
The performance is open to the public with no charge for admission.
Under the direction of Joan deAlbuquerue, the Concert Band will perform "Heroes of the Regiment" by Joseph Turrin and "Dance Movements" by Philip Sparke, and concludes with Danzon No. 2 by Arturo Marquez.
The Luther College Concert Band, founded in 1878, is one of the oldest touring organizations in the nation and among the country's most outstanding college bands. Luther's Concert Band has toured throughout the United States, Western Europe and Japan, and has appeared at many state and national music conferences. In May 2017, the ensemble toured Spain.
Joan deAlbuquerque, director of bands and associate professor of music, joined the Luther faculty in 2011. deAlbuquerque holds a Bachelor of Arts in music education from Michigan State University, a master's degree in wind conducting from Michigan State University and a Doctor of Musical Arts in wind conducting from the University of North Texas. In addition to the Concert Band, she conducts the college's Wind and Percussion Ensemble and Varsity Band.
