The ISAA Fashion Show

The annual International Fashion Show, held on the evening of Saturday, 21 September 2017, was an exciting opportunity for the Luther community to join in the celebration of culture and creativity. The night featured students modeling sports and casual wear, their national attires and original designs made with re-purposed materials. The night also featured performances from talented Luther students.

I gave the welcoming remarks and addressed the theme of the event – "Appreciate, Don’t Appropriate." Our goal for the Fashion Show was to provide an example of how cultures can be competently shared amongst diverse communities. The ISAA vice-president, Luise Johannes, thanked the co-sponsors of the event – Center for Sustainable Communities and Student Senate. The Diversity Center was also thanked for their continuous support.

It was heartwarming to see all the people that turned out for the event. It showed us that the Luther community really cares about diversity and what international students have to offer.
