The Diversity Center’s Welcome Dinner, by Samson Masanga ‘20

The Diversity Center held its annual reception welcoming international and multicultural students on the 13th of September. It was also an opportunity to introduce the Dean of Institutional Equity and Inclusion, Lisa Scott, and the Vice President for Communications and Marketing, Aimee Viniard-Weideman, to the students. As always, the evening offered light conversation as people got to know each other, and some good food. After dinner everyone congregated at Bentdahl Commons for a group photo.

Personally, I am never fully satisfied with these evenings as there are so many people to meet and a name or a face can easily slip from your memory the next day. What I do like about them though, is that it at least gives you a chance. A chance to find out someone’s name, discover their interests or just meet someone you were probably only ever going to encounter a year later.
