  • International students: Please stop by CIES to get a travel signature on your I-20 if you are traveling internationally for break! Plan ahead – get this done early. Please check your email for travel information from CIES!
  • The Sanford Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) is recruiting students who are interested in conducting research this summer in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Students underrepresented in the sciences (including underrepresented minority students, first-generation college students, individuals from lower income backgrounds or rural communities, students with disabilities, and Veterans or members of the Armed Services) are encouraged to apply. Application deadline is January 31, 2022. Educational and housing stipend included.  Apply here.
  • Paid Fellowship Opportunity for Sophomores! JP Morgan Chase presents the Advancing Black Pathways (ABP) Fellowship and the Advancing Hispanics & Latinos (AHL) Fellowship for Summer 2022. The AHL Fellowship Program and the ABP Fellowship Program are committed to providing early professional development to students from communities underrepresented in the financial industry. Both Fellowships target sophomore students (a year younger than traditional interns) who self identify as Black, African American, Hispanic, or Latinx. The Fellowships are structured as a six-week summer experience, in 2022 students will spend three weeks completing Firmwide programming and then three weeks with one of our four Commercial Bank programs. Successful completion of the Commercial Bank Summer Fellowships is intended to lead to a CB summer internship offer (for 2023). Applications will remain open until December 29th.   • CIES is not coordinating transportation to and from the airport for winter break or J-term. Luther does offer a break shuttle service to Rochester / Minneapolis and to Madison / Rockford / Chicago. Dates and times of shuttles can be found here. You can purchase tickets for the shuttles at the ticket office.


  • Kwanzaa Chapel - Friday, December 10 at 10:30am, CFL. College Ministries and the Black Student Union invite you to chapel for a special Kwanzaa celebration. We will light candles and reflect on the seven Kwanzaa principles, encouraged to live for the well-being of the world, and ourselves within it.
  • The annual Kwanzaa Festival will be held on December 11th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Peace Dining. There is only space for 85 participants. The event is free of cost but you have to sign up either in person in the CIES office or via email [email protected]
