Eklipse Hip Hop Dance Team is a student-run group advised by Professor of Dance, Jane Hawley. As a zany, fun, co-ed group, they choreograph and perform routines using a wide variety of genres, such as pop, rap, electronic, and dubstep. All members have a deep passion for dance, yet, many members have never danced before joining Eklipse!
Eklipse began in the spring 2005. It was the brainchild of Drew Rindfleisch '07, who wanted to start a class that taught students hip hop dance. Eventually, the group had many people from different backgrounds coming together. This variety led another founder, Hermie Arthur, to dub the group Eklipse.
The members of Eklipse feel that dance is great way to exercise, socialize, and work towards something unrelated to academics. The group believes dance is important to live a healthy and meaningful life.
Auditions are held once per semester. The group practice Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30-9 p.m., and Sunday 3-5 p.m. In fall, Eklipse performs at the Marty's Open Mic Nights.
