Dan Davis, a specialist in both terrestrial and marine archaeology, teaches a wide range of courses in Classics and the first-year Paideia program. In addition to partnering with students on research and work-study projects at Luther he leads January-term trips to Greece and Italy and conducts archaeological research with students in Israel and Greece each summer.
Mark Thorne is a specialist in Latin literature, especially Lucan and Latin poetry. In addition to teaching a wide range of Classics courses he also instructs in our Paideia sequence for first-year students. Professor Thorne is currently working with work-study students on a mapping project focused on mentions of toponyms in Latin poetry.
