Class of 2009 Summer 2019 Letter

Summer 2019

Classmates –

Ten.  It is the perfect score for most Olympic competitions. It is the interstate highway that goes from Florida to California. It is the number of years Odysseus journeyed after the War of Troy. It is the base of the decimal numeral system, by far the most common system of recording numbers in both written and spoken language. It is the atomic number of neon. It is the number of commandments listed in the book of Exodus. It is the U.S. currency denomination that pictures Alexander Hamilton. It is also the number of years that have passed since we became graduates of Luther College.

Like Alexander Hamilton, we want to invite you to be in the “room where it happened” by attending our 10-year reunion celebration over Homecoming, October 4-6, 2019. The schedule of events includes the following:

· Friday, October 4:

o Alumni Dinner and Presentation of the Distinguished Service Awards
Dahl Centennial Union at 6:30pm ($30 per person)

· Saturday October 5:

o Homecoming Parade
Water Street to Campus at 10:00am

o Homecoming Football Game, versus Central College
Carlson Stadium at 1:00 pm

o Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Noble Recital Hall at 5:00 pm

o Class Reunion Reception/Celebration
Luna Valley Farm at 6:00pm ($25 per person, free for kids)

There will be no shortage of reminiscing, reconnecting, and celebrating all the joys and memories that our time at Luther provided. Of all the celebrations, we want to encourage you the most to attend our Class Reunion Reception at Luna Valley Farm.  Owned by Maren (Stumme) Beard ’08 and Tom Beard, the food and company will be phenomenal! This is a great chance to see your fellow classmates in one stop. We will also have a visit from President Jenifer K. Ward later in the evening.

Life is hectic. It is easy to find an excuse not to make the trip back to Decorah. Friends – let’s make every effort to carve out the time to celebrate our beginnings together, to share stories on where our Luther education has carried us, and to live it up like college students for a fun-filled, quick weekend. Looking forward to reconnecting with many of you in a few short months!
