Class of 2006 Fall 2019 Letter

Fall 2019

Hi all! How is summer over already? Everyone is back at school, the air has a crisp feel to it in the mornings, and the leaves are changing. The mailer we got for Homecoming this year was one of the most beautiful I’ve seen yet – if you don’t remember it, it had yellow sunbeams streaming through the leaves on the trees right by the Luther bell. Just seeing that image, even when I received that in the middle of a hot 90-degree summer day, took me immediately back to fall mornings on campus, when we still had the whole world ahead of us.

Now I’ve got a one-year-old running around, dishes and laundry piling up, all the chores of adulthood, bills to pay, always too much work to do…but just for a moment, looking at that picture, I am transported back to a completely different world and time in my life. It centers me. Do you have any of those moments from Luther, or places in Decorah that can take you down memory lane if you think of them? Find those moments amidst all the chaos. It’s amazing how much it can help. And then pay it forward – your gifts give current and future Luther students the opportunity to make those memories, the ones that got us where we are today.

Soli Deo Gloria!
