Hello Class of 2008,
Cale Nelson here. Our 10-year reunion is right around the corner and I really hope you can attend on Saturday, October 27, 2018, during Homecoming. Sarah and I are on the planning committee and we are putting together a fun weekend for folks that can make it.
Our reunion celebration is going to be at a unique location that hasn’t been used for a reunion celebration before, which is exciting. We will be at the Luna Valley Farm, run by our very own Maren Beard and her husband, Tom, on Saturday night of Homecoming.
There will, of course, be the Homecoming parade and football game to take in among many other activities during the weekend. If you haven’t started to look for housing for the weekend, it would be smart to start as hotels and other options book up quickly with the estimated 2,500 attendees. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone that can make it to the reunion this fall.
Make sure to follow the Class of 2008 Facebook page and look for registration to open sometime this summer on the Luther website. You’ll also be able to see who will be attending from our class on the Homecoming page of the Luther website after registration opens.
If you can’t make it to Homecoming, there are other great opportunities to get back to Decorah. Whether it be coming back for the other busiest weekend of the year, Nordic Fest (July 26-28) or a relaxing weekend of tubing down the Upper Iowa River and camping. Whenever I’m in town, you’ll find me at the two breweries that have turned Decorah into a beer destination, Toppling Goliath Brewing Co. and Pulpit Rock Brewing Co.
If making it to Decorah isn’t possible based on where you are located, there are many events that are held for alumni across the country. Information can be found in the Alumni Events section of the Luther College website.
Remember to stay connected to your Luther friends and family by updating your information; you can find the online form at luther.edu/alumni/update/.
Please consider supporting current students with a donation to the Luther Fund. Use the attached form and the reusable envelope or visit givenow.luther.edu to donate today!
