Dear Class of 1978 Classmates,
We hope this letter finds you well as the date of our 40th Luther College Reunion weekend draws near!
Over the past several weeks, I (Barbara) have engaged in the enormous task of digitizing hundreds of color photo slides that my dad took throughout my growing-up years. From my chubby-cheeked baby days to my Luther College graduation, there was a lot of history to relive! So it is with great excitement that I look forward to October 26-28, and to the opportunity to connect with you and hear your stories of what has happened since that day when we walked across the stage to receive our diplomas.
Plans are being finalized for special times to gather together. Please check out the enclosed flyer describing the activities along with tips to get connected with classmates. Two of our classmates, Marilyn (Wangberg) Brattskar and Celia (Nybro) Manlove will be honored with Distinguished Service Awards at the Alumni Dinner on Friday evening. Congratulations, Marilyn and Celia!
Earlier this year we, along with other members of the Reunion Committee, reached out to you with encouragement to come to campus for Homecoming. Based on the conversations we had with you, we have every reason to expect a robust turn-out.
More recently, we participated in our second reunion planning meeting and plans are shaping up very well indeed. From a scenic bike ride to world-class beer tasting to the casual elegance of the De Novo Barn—there is no doubt that we are in for a wonderful time of fellowship. Be assured that no one will “be a stranger” at any of our events.
With regards to our Reunion Giving Campaign, we are extremely grateful for the generosity of so many! One of our priorities, the 1978 Endowed Class Scholarship, has a value of $76,829.13 (as of May 30). We have exceeded our goal of this scholarship reaching $75,000 during this reunion year, and it continues to grow! Check out the enclosed flyer for information about the TRIPLE MATCH! And, as always, thank you for showing your support during this special reunion year.
It is with JOY that we anticipate the story-telling, the memories, the hugs, the laughter, and a whole-lot-a Luther love! See you soon!
Soli Deo Gloria,
