Brrr! Winter retains its icy grip upon the part of the world where I live. Even a trip outside to fill the birdfeeders can be a nasty experience! As I open my back door to be greeted by the warmth of the kitchen within, I sometimes say aloud “blessed warmth” and then I think about those who have neither home nor any other kind of warmth in their lives. In that sense winter is a blessing because it reminds us to be thankful and inspires us to alleviate the hungers and hurts of others.
