Dearly Beloved Luther College Class of 1953,
Homecoming is late this year, October 26-28. But that’s okay, since it gives us more time to consider attending the 65th reunion of the Class of ’53. Does anyone else sense that we need a bit more time to get to our desired destinations than we needed even for our 60th? We had an excellent turnout for that one and a good time.
The Alumni Office has plans for a noon luncheon for us on Saturday, October 27, in the Nobel Room. Our dear departed President Farwell planned that room for very special guests on special occasions. That’s us, folks. We will be joined by members of the Class of 1948 (70th reunion) and of the Class of 1943 (75th reunion). Trust me, there will be room for all of us. Let’s push out the walls with an extraordinary attendance. You may even watch the football game from the comfort of that room. Reservations can be made online at luther.edu/homecoming, or by sending in the enclosed form.
One of our classmates, Wayne Rohne, will receive a Distinguished Service award at the alumni dinner, Friday evening, October 26. Come join us for that as well. We could sit together and collectively manage a convincing cheer for lawyer Rohne. Or wave something. Y’all come. We can do this.
There will be a post-game reception. At this time it is uncertain where that will be, but we will get it figured out and announce the venue at our luncheon. It will be a special time for reminiscence and general conviviality, with a glance toward our 70th in ’23. Don’t rule it out!
