This is written in the Arizona HEAT during the last week of June. I am reminded that we have always traveled in the summer to the Midwest, Colorado, or Seattle after retirement in 1996. Margene and I moved to Sun City in 1988 to serve Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church. That next summer of 1989, Phoenix recorded the greatest number of 100°F days ever. You may have also heard of the high of 122°F on June 26th, 1990. By the time you read this, the weather will be acceptable.
The plan to provide new choir robes for all choirs that use robes has had a tremendous success. As a former Nordic Choir member this is great news. All choirs will have new robes.
During these last months when the choir robes were highlighted in our interest, some Nordic members from the early 1950s communicated their remembrances of that time. Most all have a common event that was recalled: it seems that the Director of the Messiah in Minneapolis was retiring. Mr. Noble was asked to consider directing that annual concert. He asked our choir if we would agree to be at all rehearsals if he accepted that position. We voted, Yes, we will, and many remember the bus trips.
Summer music at Luther is busy. Check #ilovedorian on Facebook, Luther College Dorian Music Camps. Video or YouTube. This will surprise you.
This year is our 66th Anniversary. Homecoming Weekend is October 26-28.
Please send your experience if you attend for sharing with classmates.
Let us all remember to contribute to the Luther Fund. Thanks to Our Class, we have been faithful in participating in this annual effort. Also, consider remembering Luther College in our estate plans in the form of wills and trust. Amen to that.
Finally, most have heard that President Paula Carlson will retire at the end of the 2018-19 academic year.
Let us join in thanking her for her leadership at Luther.
