Dear Whoever is left of the Class of 1943,

I recently ran into a moving booklet written by PHIL ¢41 and LOUISE AMBUEL.  The descriptions of their Eastern Montana sod-busting childhoods came to life.  I did not realize there was still land available for homesteading in the early 1900s.  Nor could I imagine that a widow with two little kids would have the guts to go into that far into the country and scratch out a living.  The Depression years
