Working in groups is a skill. Let’s not rely on practice or ‘trial and error’, let’s teach them some basics. Step 1: Understanding and appreciating self. With greater confidence we can make more space for others. Step 2: Putting words to my needs and giving others the chance to show up for me. Step 3: Make personal offerings to enhance collaboration. Listen and get excited about others' unique contributions. Step 4: Foster open communication to both celebrate wins and problem-solve hiccups with greater empathy. Here’s a group work intro video.
This conversation will be hosted by Miriam Skrade, Assistant Director of the Career Center. Our Wednesday July 14th conversation will build on this session. Faculty are invited to join us for both or either session.
