CEO, AHA Insight
April Armstrong is CEO of AHA Insight. Based out of Washington DC, April has 20 years of experience working with thousands of leaders at the White House, Department of Defense, nonprofit organizations, and private sector organizations including Fortune 500 companies.
One of the youngest and first female executives in the nation’s largest employee-owned research and development company honed her entrepreneurial instincts and provided a platform for learning what it takes to successfully lead transformational initiatives. April has worked with leaders of large-scale changes including national policy for preparedness and response to catastrophic disasters, “connected vehicles” and data modernization across the national security sector.
April was instrumental in growing a Division in the company from $10 million to $100 million in 5 years. That company later went public and became a Fortune 500 company. After 20 years with that large company, April left that company to start a small company specializing in the “people” side of change. She works with C-Suite executives and their teams in national security, transportation and corporate sectors.
Passionate about mentoring and the value of entrepreneurial and executive mindset, April is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at James Madison University. She is a sought-after speaker who has been featured on ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and is a contributor to Forbes.com. She is the author of The Day One Executive, which helps young people stand out as future executives starting on Day One of their career. April has a Master in Science degree in Information Systems from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor degree in Communication and French from James Madison University. She is a Master Certified Coach Trainer with the International Coach Federation-accredited Center for Executive Coaching.
When she is not creating business, you will find her playing with her nephews, riding her motorcycle, skiing a glacier or racing in a triathlon. Follow April on LinkedIn, Twitter (@ahaconsult & @dayonexec), and on Facebook.
